Who is the newest add to the KBB Cool Cars list? The 2012 Ford Fiesta of course!

Earlier this year, the folks at Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com presented their list of 10 Coolest Cars under $18,000, and it seems to have caused a bit of a controversy with another team of experts, from Consumer Guide. In fact, the latter felt the need to run its own rankings of chilly choices for less than $18K in response. And you can leave it to the 2012 Ford Fiesta to be cool enough to make both. In the latest list, Consumer Guide focused on the Fiesta's on-road manners and said that: "it probably is the most pleasant [subcompact] to drive, and the most refined."

Do you get stressed out sometimes while driving? Ford has a solution! The Driver Workload Estimator!

Ford has been a leader in delivering solutions for in-car communications and simplifying the user interface, and now they are researching ways to use the car's own intelligence to further help drivers. Vehicle control inputs, sensors, road conditions and biometric information such as a driver's pulse and breathing can all be used to create a driver workload estimation that can then help manage certain functions in demanding situations. The driver workload estimator is an algorithm using real-time data from existing sensors such as radar and cameras combined with input from the driver's use of the throttle, brakes and steering wheel. The result is an intelligent system enabling management of in-vehicle communications based on the assessed workload of the driving situation. For example, the side-looking radar sensors used for the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and the forward-looking camera for the Lane-Keeping System are on watch even when there is no active warning provided to the driver. These signals could indicate there is a significant amount of traffic in the lane that you are merging into while entering a highway.

1ST PLACE: 2013 Ford Escape! Doing It Right says Motor Trend.

The new 2013 Ford Escape is about as close to being great as a compact CUV is going to get. The Escape does almost everything right. Take the powertrain, for example. The 1.6-liter turbo-four is one reason Ford won the gold medal. Evans found it a "strong little engine," while Kiino noted that it has "great power from 2000 to 5000 rpm." More important nobody felt the Ford was low on power or struggled to accelerate.

Driving a new Ford? Don't forget your shades! Check out what Ford Engineers are doing to make sure you have the perfect spot to put them!

Can you look cool without sunglasses? Maybe not, so they are consistently among the top 10 items drivers carry in their cars and accommodating this accessory is a priority for these Ford engineers. Ford engineers evaluated and modeled more than 100 pairs of sunglasses from designer frames to drug store knockoffs to achieve accurate dimensions of a wide range of shades. The goal was to ensure 95 percent of all sunglasses fit well into the 2013 Ford Fusion overhead stowage bin. Talk about dedication to making it possible for every driver to look their best on sunny days.
